Boxes for a Dream 2020

Casa África is collaborating again this year with the DNGO Aldeas Infantiles SOS Spain and is hosting the 4th edition of «Boxes for a Dream», a solidarity project with 46 national and international artists participating in favour of Aldeas Infantiles SOS. This project is carried out in Africa and the Canary Islands in aid of children.
The collective exhibition offers a varied selection of wooden boxes, decorated by each artist individually and using very different artistic techniques. You will find in “Boxes for a Dream” a wide range of styles, techniques, formats and designs. From boxes painted with acrylic or oil paints to more daring designs, using conceptual art, photography, added elements or sculpture.
All the decorated boxes will be auctioned on 4th December at the Casa África exhibition hall, once the showing is over. Starting price will be 50 euros per box. The whole auction will be controlled by the Las Palmas Delegation of Aldeas Infantiles, for greater transparency.
This initiative also counts on the collaboration of Binter Canarias Airlines and the realtor company Gilmar Inmobiliaria.
The initiative «Boxes for a Dream» is on its fourth edition since its creator, nurse Esther Vega, first encouraged a large number of artists to join this project in 2016. The idea was to transform a simple wooden box into a unique piece of artwork whose added value would take on a special significance and become an unusual item made by the guest creators. So far, more than one hundred artists have collaborated on this project, thus showing their solidarity.
Anyone bidding over and above the initial amount of 50 euros for any of the boxes on show at Casa África will be able to obtain a work of art made by one of the artists collaborating on this collective project.
The artists participating selflessly in this edition, Boxes for a Dream 2020 are:
