Presentation of the title "Black Nations and Culture" in Madrid

To celebrate Africa Day and in collaboration with  Casa Árabe and the Group of accredited African Ambassadors in Spain (GEA), Casa África will present the publication of the book  Black Nations and Culture in Madrid, an emblematic work with far-reaching social and political significance by Cheikh Anta Diop, a Senegalese historian and anthropologist  who has studied the origins of the human race and pre-colonial African culture and who is considered one of the greatest African historians of the 20th century.

The presentation of this work will take place on Thursday 24th May 2012 in Casa Árabe's  Assembly Hall (Calle Alcalá, 62. Madrid) at 19:30h will be attended by , the author's son and who among other things devotes himself to defending his father's legacy, being a witness to and defending his message, which in this specific work presented here tells us that Africa was already there at the beginning of what was called civilisation and therefore, and not just because of this, it also forms part of, with its own voice, the future of the global village.

After the presentation, Casa Árabe's garden will host a brief act of the Senegalese group Babacar y los Diengoz, entertainment with dance, djembe, sabar and tama, the talking drum of Senegal.

At the book presentation, Professor Diop will also be accompanied by: D. Abas Ndiour, Dean of GEA and Senegalese Ambassador in Spain; D. Eduardo López Busquets, Casa Árabe's General Director and D. Santiago Martínez Caro, Casa África's General Director.
