The Secretary of State for International Cooperation presides at the official Casa Mediterráneo presentation to the Alicante society

Yesterday, the Secretary of State for International Cooperation, Soraya Rodríguez, presided at the official presentation of Casa Mediterráneo, an event attended by more than 150 guests that included ambassadors, consulates, directors of entities, members of associations and foundations, as well as people involved in politics, such as Leire Pajín, Senator and Secretary of the PSOE organisation, or José Joaquín Ripoll, President of the Provincial Government.

Casa Mediterráneo is a public consortium that originates from the political consensus, shared commitment and efforts of the five institutions that constitute it: The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation, the Generalitat Valenciana, the Alicante City Government, the Benidorm City Government and the Xàbia City Government. Its primary mission is to promote public diplomacy as a tool for establishing relationships of mutual trust, based on dialogue and the support of personal, institutional and governmental relationships among the coastal countries. Casa Mediterráneo carries out its activities in the areas of governance and cooperation, the environment and sustainable tourism, society and economy, culture, heritage and education.

Before the presentation, Soraya Rodríguez also presided at the first meeting of directors from the six Casas of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation, which was attended by Imma Turbau, Director of Casa de América; Gema Martín Muñoz, General Director of Casa Árabe; Jesús Sanz Escorihuela, General Director of Casa Asia; Diego de Ojeda, General Director of Casa Sefarad-Israel; Ricardo Martínez Vázquez, General Director of Casa África, and Yolanda Parrado, General Director of Casa Mediterráneo.

After the presentation, there was a performance by the musician Driss el Maloumi, a Moroccan lutanist.
